Dr Heike Fischer is currently working as part of a University of Otago Research Grant that is funded to analyse farmers’ ideas pertaining to the NZ government-led move towards implementing an ETS. She is originally from Germany where she completed her ‘Diplom’ (equiv. to Masters) in ‘food economics’. She also lived in Aberdeen (Scotland) for 4 years during which time she completed her PhD investigating succession processes on Scottish family farms with a particular focus on socialisation, identities and culture/practice. Recently, she moved to NZ with her Kiwi husband to see what life is like in this part of the world.
Her current research interests are in particular:
socialisation and identity construction processes, cultural hegemony and power and the philosophy of science.
